The Maud Fontenoy Foundation, in partnership with French Charity Secours Populaire, welcomed 400 children who had never been on holiday or seen the sea to Ste Marguerite Island, off the Bay of Cannes, from 23 to 25 August 2013.
With the support of French Charity Secours Populaire, the city of Cannes, the Cannes Jeunesse association and the Scouts and Guides of France, the children spent three unforgettable days in a 17th century fort, steeped in History and legend, on a Mediterranean island in the heart of the Cannes region.
This exceptional trip involved "edutainment" activities as well as the discovery of nature, in particular the marine environment, the high point of which was the gathering of the 400 children at sea for a solidarity regatta.
The programme included visits to the fort and the maritime museum, educational workshops, games, theatre events about ecology by the PILE POIL ET CIE company, spending time on the beach and swimming in the sea etc.
